How can it be that the first week of retirement is so busy? I suppose it's mostly been self-inflicted: getting ahead on my funerals course, getting ahead on my ethics course, and above all planning the trip. About 72 hours and we'll be boarding a Virgin Atlantic flight to New York. Laddie will be staying with his favourite Auntie Helen. He specially likes that because she grooms him, strokes him, walks him, pets him, and generally lets him feel worshipped, which is his favourite sensation.
The plan is to get an account of each day written and posted as soon as possible, with some pics. Bonnie will take several hundred, of course. We're travelling with an extra 20G drive for my netbook to accomodate the expected flood. I'll pick the most interesting one or two for upload each day.
At the moment there are a few fixed points. The tour of Grand Central Station is not to be missed - that's Wednesday afternoon. Wednesday evening Bonnie has a date bell ringing in Wall Street, the following evening we're going to a concert at the Lincoln Center and Tuesday evening we're meeting Bon's nephew Rick who has the good fortune to live in the city.
Also on the itinerary will be the Frick, the Museum of Natural History, the Chrysler Building, Top of the Rock and the Empire State Building. We're staying in mid-town Manhattan at the Roosevelt Hotel.
Don't forget to watch the blog and follow our progress.
